Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of traditional Chinese medicine involving the insertion of extremely thin needles into the body at strategic points on your body. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi (CHEE) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.

Acupuncture can help alleviate a number of physical conditions (i.e. migraines, ulcers, etc.) and has also been shown to address a number of mental health concerns such as depression, memory problems, insomnia and anxiety. Research has determined that the use of acupuncture with certain individuals can improve cognitive functioning and reduce stress along with reducing a variety of physical complaints.

At Helix Healing & Recovery we believe in the benefits of acupuncture and encourage our residents to use this service on a regular basis. Our Acupuncturist is available by appointment on a daily basis.  As part of each resident's admission, they will be provided one initial acupuncture session as a way to introduce our acupuncture program then let the resident decide about continuing personal sessions thereafter.

Our acupuncturists strive to integrate an understanding of the individual clients’ needs and concerns into their treatment approaches and are experts in the area of integrating acupuncture into mental health care.
